About who needs care: My father has a level of dementia but knows who he is, where he his, remembers a lot and, with more activity around him, becomes more engaged. He was the victim of elder abuse by a sister, but has made huge progress forward over the past 12 months. Dad has limited mobility and needs assistance with his walker, getting into/out of his wheelchair, around the house and outdoors, and to go to the bathroom. He needs to get up and move around each hour and wears incontinence briefs which sometimes need to be changed, particularly once or twice during the night. Dad loves sitting in his chair by the window to watch the birds come to the feeder. He uses an ipad to listen to his music and play solitare. He'll engage and tell stories. He used to paint landscapes, and we are trying to get him to do this again. Ideally, I would like a daytime and an overnight aide, someone to get him up in the morning, shower a few days a week, make sure he eats if I am not home, be a companion, make sure he is doing his exercise, assist with taking him to doctor appointments (I drive him), get him ready to bed, check his briefs during the night. Thank you.
