About who needs care: My father has louie body dementia His ability to move/transfer extremely limited. He is currently in assisted living in Albany but they informed us that he is exceeding their capabilities. We're in the process of applying for Medicaid and seeking a skilled nursing home for placement but waiting lists are very, very long. My wife an I are willing to bring him into our home but we'll need help!! My dad is a very smart man. He was a speech writer for some pretty high level people. He enjoys conversation of any kind and is a warm, friendly, loving man. He is my hero. He's humble and kind. He enjoys news and sports. He watches a lot of news. He participates in bible studies and PT. He wakes at about 7 a.m. Breakfast 7:30-8 Activities Lunch 11:30-12:30 Rest. TV time Dinner 4:30-5:30 Hang out Bed 7 p.m. He wears depends full time. He is in a wheelchair full time. Meals are needed. Personal hygiene help needed. About the care needs: My dad gets along with anyone. He's a former alcoholic. 50 years sober and very proud of it. He's a man of faith. He's very smart and enjoyed intellectual conversation but he's been in the trenches too and loves talking with anybody. Ideal qualities of caregiver A patient person. A non smoker. A strong person. A kind person. A very trustworthy person. A loving person. If it's possible for medication dispensing at specific times. The main med is Levadopa 3x per day at meals. He takes some other stuff too like vitamins, Metamucil, sertraline Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
