About who needs care: Dad has moderate dementia. Lives at home with my mom who is 80 and very capable. However, dad just had a hospital admission for fainting and had delirium. We just got home, and he is starting to come back to his baseline but needs a lot of help. Reduced mobility but can walk with a cane. Uses bathroom himself but has needed assistance only since the hospital stay and delirium. About the care needs: Calm, patient, not too "directive". He doesn't do well with loud, aggressive, hurried styles. He does better with a calm quieter person who will be patient enough to let him be as independent as possible. For example, it may take a long time for him to stand up but need someone who will give him the time and physical support to do that, instead of manhandling him or giving a lot of orders. Some lifting/shifting him around is needed. He is small and frail, not heavy. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
