About who needs care: - early-onset Alzheimer's - funny, upbeat personality; thrives on social interaction - difficulties with speaking and visual cognition - needs help with meal preparation, medications, choosing clothes (usually), operating TV and tablet - OK with personal care, dressing (usually) - enjoys walks, going to the gym (w/ his trainer), etc. About the care needs: We're a gay couple (together 23 years, married 8 years), both educated professionals, formerly lived in NYC and loved it. He's now retired; I work full-time (college professor). My husband has been gradually declining for about 5 years, and he now needs more regular companionship and some help with daily activities. He enjoys people with happy, upbeat, funny personalities (like his). We need a regular companion a couple of afternoons each week, with someone who can be a more supportive aide from time to time when I need to travel for work or take some respite time.
