About the job
About who needs care: Dad is very limited in movement due to arthritis. He is also battling prostate cancer that has spread to his bones. He is in treatment for that. We just lost Mom Easter sunday this year and he is extremely despondent. He likes to read and do puzzles, he watches a lot of television too. He has bird feeders and enjoys the different birds that come to feed. He's usually sad/grumpy just because he misses Mom. He can't stand in the shower so help getting him washed well is my most high priority goal. We live on the same property, so I see him daily and make sure he has his meds morning/night and we make sure he eats. He no longer can cook for himself. He served in the Navy and enjoys telling stories about that time. He doesn't sleep well, so he goes back & forth between his bed and his chair day & night. He doesn't drive much anymore, but he did just buy a new car. About the care needs: Someone upbeat and willing to joke around/tease him seems to work best for him. Our cleaning girl gets him to laugh most every time she comes. She loves old people! I would love for him to have a shower! Dad is hard of hearing - nope, won't get hearing aids, so you would need to speak up to be heard. Dad is very nice and sweet, but so very sad. He says he doesn't want to go to the Senior Center to meet new people, but I think that being by himself all the time is making him sadder. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
