About who needs care: Dad is a young 82. Up until July, he had no health issues at all. (Golfing, driving, independent). We lost my mom suddenly in January to a heart attack and in July my dad bumped his leg and a few days later went to the ER where they discovered he had a fib. He did a week in the hospital and a week in rehab and rebounded quite nicely. He lives on his own and was functioning well until November. on November 26, he was admitted to the ER again before his scheduled ablation. Since then they did an ablation, a catheterization, and he is now wearing a life vest. he is progressing very well and gets around very well, therefore no extended need for PT or OT at facility. My three sisters and I all live close by but work full-time jobs and Dad would like to go to his home in Voorhees. many places, including Lionsgate, would not accept him, although his insurance would cover it, because of the life vest. He does not want overnight care and probably early afternoon to dinner time but we are trying to see if it is possible for 24 hour care and then decrease it as the days go and he sees how he does. We were interested in seeing if this is possible and if you have people available. We have a meeting with the social worker tomorrow morning. About the care needs: Dad is easy going, quiet, but loves his grandkids sporting events and attends most in the area. Loves sports. Has 4 daughters but loves his son in laws. Golf is his favorite. Loves to read. A caring caregiver with a sense of humor would be great & cardiac experience with a lifevest an added bonus! Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
