We need hands-on care to take care of our father. Medical training is a plus, but not required. The care is more involved than just companionship. He needs assistance getting out of bed each morning and afternoon/evening. We currently use a Sure Hands Hoyer lift to move him so it's minimal lifting. He can use a commode, but sometimes needs to be cleaned up in bed. He currently needs a daily sponge bath. He has an in-dwelling catheter with a Foley bag that will need to be emptied at least once a day. We're also looking for some help preparing my father's meals (mostly breakfast and lunch) and someone willing to do light housekeeping (loading dishwasher, doing my father's laundry, etc.). My father has early stage dementia and occasionally exhibits the incoherence/moodiness that accompanies that disease. Experience with dementia a plus.
