About who needs care: My dad suffered a stroke 3 weeks ago. He is also diabetic. He has been in acute rehab for two weeks. He is being discharged, but he lives alone and we feel that he needs more support, particularly in the mornings and evenings. He has shown progress with mobility and motor skills, but we are concerned with his instability and sometimes his memory. We are ideally looking for someone to come in the morning to get him started with his day, helping him with breakfast, going for a walk, and making sure he is taking his medications and blood sugar. He should be okay during the day, but again we would like someone to come in the evenings for dinner, medications, and blood sugar. About the care needs: My dad is a very friendly, conversational person. He enjoys sports, news, and puzzles. Someone who is lighthearted and friendly, but can also be tough with him if he is stubborn about things like going for a walk or being active (or showering). He is pretty independent but is not good with cooking for himself or preparing healthy meals, so it would be nice to have someone who can prepare something easy on occasion if need be. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
