About who needs care: The care is for my brother who had a brain bleed which caused a stroke 7 years ago. Where he had the brain bleed it is in the part of the brain that controls balance. Because of this he is unable to walk and would fall when getting up. His arms and legs are strong however. He is transported using a wheelchair and needs assistance getting in and out of it. I am looking for someone to prepare dinner , either a fresh or a frozen dinner. He eats at 7:30. After dinner transport him back to his lounge chair and then at 9:00 transport back into wheelchair and help him brush his teeth and help him into his bed. I am looking to use the Personal Preference Program which he was recently approved for. I would set the hours and sign off on timesheets but you will be paid thru this program so therefore the wages will be taxed. About the care needs: A caregiver needs to be able to transport him and support his weight during the transport. My brother weighs about 151 pounds. I myself weigh 145 and I am able to transport him . You do not need to be a companion to him. You can watch TV or read in his bedroom where there is a chair and TV. Please note that due to his stroke his vocal cords were damaged but you will be able to understand him although voice is garbled. Also, the stroke did not affect his brain, he is fully aware and competent and intelligent. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
