Live-in Home Care Needed For My Father In Scotch Plains

About who needs care: He had a hemorrhagic stroke 14 months ago, spent time in rehab and has been home approximately a year. He has right-side hemiplegia from the stroke but is now using a hemi-walker for short distances. He still does not have use of his right arm. He is still going to PT/OT and will continue to as long as he continues to improve. He needs help with most ADLs since he only has the one arm to do things. He is NOT incontinent; uses a commode, urinal or the toilet (depending on mood). He really has no hobbies - he likes his cars and boat but cannot use them at this point. He likes to go for rides when someone can bring him. He watches TV a lot. His best days are the ones when he has the aide help him get ready in the morning, eats a good breakfast, then lunch and then has PT or OT. After PT or OT he comes home and the has dinner. He would structure his best day as one when he can get out and go somewhere. He used to drive around a lot, do all the food shopping and errands. He does not do that now. About the care needs: Personality - someone who can take it when someone yells a lot; he can be abrupt but is really a kind person. He's stubborn and very frustrated being in his current physical condition. Skills - motivational and is willing to help him (and encourage him to) exercise on the days when he doesn't have PT or OT as those days will come to an end at some point. The person should be a decent cook. Not a chef but know how to make a healthy meal as we do not give him prepared food. He is diabetic and has high cholesterol so takes a good number of meds that the care giver would need to hand him from the pill box. We are NOT asking the care give to do the dosing, we will put the pills in the pill box. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
