About who needs care: We have one full time caregiver, but need a second. My Mom is 91, hard of hearing and has advanced Parkinsons. My Dad is 88 and is in and out of Congestive Heart Failure. Both use walkers and occasionally a wheelchair. My Dad, especially, has balance issues. My parents are both mentally clear and lucid. They need help with ADL, going to the bathroom, brushing their teeth, getting dressed, having meals brought to them from the kitchen. They live on the first floor of my sister and brother-in-laws house, and primarily stay in the living room watching TV. My sister can work remotely and is often home. My brother-in-law is also usually home. About the care needs: No specialized skills needed, except the ability support them while they walk with a walker, help them get in and out of bed, chair( they have stand up recliners and an adjustable bed) to read a thermometer, check O2 saturation with a pulse oximeter, check BP, track fluid intake for my Dad, and assist with getting dressed, handing them their meds. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
