Certified Home Health Aide

Home Health Aide (HHA) Responsibilities: Perform personal care activities as specified in a written assignment. Enhance the lives of clients by providing personalized care and support, ensuring comfort and safety. Conduct light housekeeping duties, including laundry, dusting, dishwashing, and vacuuming. Plan and prepare meals, as well as assist with feeding the patient if necessary. Assist patients with ambulation, including the use of walkers or wheelchairs. Provide certain treatments as ordered by the physician and supervised by a nurse, such as: Changing a colostomy bag. Assisting with range-of-motion exercises. Assisting with prescribed ice packs. Measuring fluid intake and output. Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and respiration. Promote the patient's mental alertness through engaging activities. Offer emotional and psychological support to the patient and their family. Report changes in the patient's mental or physical condition to the supervising nurse or care team. Teach basic personal care to the primary caregiver. Follow infection control protocols. Observe, report, and document patient status and provided care. Complete at least 12 hours of in-service training annually. Assist in lifting and transferring patients, as needed. Handle additional tasks as assigned. Tasks Not Permitted: Changing sterile dressings. Irrigating body cavities (e. g., administering an enema or irrigating a colostomy). Catheterizing a patient. Administering medications. Applying heat through any method. Caring for a tracheotomy tube. Suctioning a patient. Other Requirements: Adhere to state laws and organizational policies. Be available for assignment to institutional settings if required. Physical Requirements: Regularly assist in lifting and transferring patients.
