About who needs care: Patient diagnosed with bone cancer of the spine so needs some assistance or at least oversight of walking, showers etc. Need to monitor oxygen levels as has pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and some water on the lungs as well. Afraid to leave her in the house alone for any extended period of time. Looking for small meal prep for breakfast and lunch to be sure she eats if she is able. Recently due to radiation has had problems keeping anything down. We are also exploring the possibility of kyphoplasty for the fractures in her spine which has about a 6 week recovery where she could only do light minor tasks. Enjoys talking especially about her family, playing games on her phone, watching the Hallmark channel, and watching football. As a retired accountant, she also enjoys doing "the books" and taxes. Hard to say what her ideal day would be at this time as we are still seeing a lot of doctors etc. Probably would be to sleep until at least 9, have breakfast, do some PT. rest, have lunch, take a shower, rest and maybe watch some tv. She currently has meds that she takes at 7-8 different times throughout the day that I have laid out in pill boxes for each day. About the care needs: Someone who enjoys jokes and very positive would be the best fit. At this time I do not believe there are any specialized skills required. It would be helpful if they can help take her oxygen levels, bp, and weight for the visiting nurses. No specific hobbies/interests are required at this time as long as the individual is a good conversationalist when the patient wishes to converse. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, and mobility assistance.
