About the job
About who needs care: She has Alzheimer's, mid-stage, and struggles with word-finding and knowing where she put things. She is still able to dress herself and likes to keep a schedule for herself with activities at her senior living home. She sometimes does things in ways that seem silly, like wearing too many shirts or putting things in the wrong places. She also always feels that she is missing something, and will often look for things. She also has ulcerative colitis, and uses an ostomy bag that she is still able to care for completely on her own, but struggles sometimes with knowing where her supplies are in her apartment. She has infusions once every two months that require someone to go with her and sit while she has the infusion. She loves playing violin and is very social with her friends at the senior living home. They have activities that she partakes in and she interacts with the other residents and staff. She loves animals, and wishes she could have a cat, but she likes to interact with everyone's dogs as an alternative. We are looking primarily for someone who can be a companion every so often as well as help keep an eye on things like her hygiene and that she's taking her pills (she takes them in a pill pack that's set up for her for every day use) and that any mail or papers aren't getting lost, since she will often rearrange things. She is hesitant about feeling like a patient or a little kid, especially since she was always very independent before the onset of her disease. About the care needs: Someone who will act like her friend or companion and listen to her. She is really insecure about feeling like she's stupid or not good enough, and wants to share her cheery personality and interests with someone. Even when trying to coax her to tasks like showering, it would be ideal to listen to her and allow her to advocate for herself when she feels she doesn't want to do something. Services needed include: companionship.
