About who needs care: My mother has been diagnosed with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). While she has undergone shunt surgery, she continues to face challenges with mobility, cognitive function, and incontinence. She is very independent-minded and still tries to manage many tasks herself, but we are seeking a compassionate caregiver who can assist her with the activities she struggles with. We are looking for someone to help primarily in the mornings. Key responsibilities include: Assisting with dressing and morning hygiene. Handling laundry, especially her reusable bed pads, and pajamas which often need washing due to nighttime accidents. Cleaning the cat litter box, as bending and standing back up are difficult for her. Supervising her physical therapy exercises to ensure she performs them safely and effectively. While my mother receives assistance, my father will focus on walking the dog and preparing breakfast. Additionally, about twice a week, we would need help with transportation to the senior center in Portsmouth after the morning routine. There, she enjoys attending classes or watching the Friday movie. She will typically be picked up later by my father or sister. We're seeking someone who is patient, attentive, and understanding of her needs while also encouraging her independence where possible. About the care needs: Our ideal caregiver would above all be patient and supportive. They should like pets. They should be a calm and careful driver. My mom is not a native English speaker and sometimes her accent makes it hard for others to understand her. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
