About who needs care: My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease two years ago. He is unsteady on his feet and even with a walker he falls sometimes. I need someone in the house two morning's week because I have meetings. He loves to chat with people and loves to share his FBI stories. He will be resistant to anyone who comes initially but once he has a new audience for his stories he will warm to the idea. About the care needs: The person should be a good listener and someone who likes to read. If they read the same book he would love to discuss the book with them. He no longer enjoys his book club because more than one person talks at a time and he cannot filter the words to make sense of them. He does like to put together jigsaw puzzles with some help. Every day he does the timed AARP crossword puzzle on his computer so that keeps him busy for a while. He tries to go to one of the big box stores daily to walk but his knee is getting to painful to do that. He used to be able to get his own lunch but that is getting more difficult because of his knee and walker. He still wants to help around the house as much as he can but it is difficult for him. Services needed include: companionship.
