My sweet 89-year-old dad is a fall risk and needs 24/7 care. He can walk with a walker but must be watched. His mental faculties are sharp and he can eat and bathe on his own. In terms of personal care, he usually only needs help with dressing. Healthwise, he has heart disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Daddy gets up around 8:30-9:30 and eats breakfast. Lunchtime is at 12 and dinner is at 4. In between he watches TV and reads and goes to bed around 9:30-10. Services needed include ensuring he walks safely, helping him dress/undress, simple meal prep, housekeeping, laundry, occasional transportation (we provide car) and companionship. Shifts are available 24/7. Caregiver must have a minimum of the Home Health Aide license/certification as required by the state, no exceptions.
