About who needs care: Veteran, with COPD induced Dementia. Uses Oxygen and inhalers. Loves plants, jazz music, drawing, sports, gameshows, & crime shows on TV. Sitting on the porch, bird watching. He can shower on his own and get dressed. Just needs to make sure he remembers to turn off the water (kitchen, restrooms) Ideally likes to eat breakfast around 9:30/10, lunch around 12:30/1. He does snack a bit. Most days he's "working around the house" or watching tv. Ideally would like to try to get him to do activities to keep his mind engaged. Most times he's pretty laid back, but he feeds off of energy of others. If persons seem timid or scary, or not interested, he can get a little antsy or anxious. Does well if you just talk and go along with whatever he is rambling about, assure him or ease his mind. But also be able to determine if he just needs some space. His Bedroom is his private space, doesn't like anyone in there. About the care needs: Someone who isn't shy, timid but not overly talkative. Someone who has experience working with veterans and those with dementia. Sensitive to the needs & circumstances. Able to speak up (he has hearing issues) or write clearly to communicate messages. Who isn't forceful and dominant, he responds to tone of voice
