About who needs care: Mom is a relatively physically healthy 83-year-old retired public health nurse. She lives in her home and can care for herself. She has little difficulty getting around and can ambulate without assistance. We are looking for companion care that can assist with getting Mom out of the house (store errands, doctor visits, etc) and making sure she has taken her meds, help with meal prep, and social interaction... maybe light housework. She experiences difficulty with short-term memory but has not been diagnosed with dementia yet. She does have a family history of vascular dementia. We believe at-home care will help delay the onset of dementia-related issues, and social interaction and help around the house will be beneficial. Recent conversations with her healthcare provider will support our views about Mom's situation and her needs. About the care needs: Someone who is: a female, a Christian, and has good social skills. Someone who is good around pets (Mom has a little dog). Someone who has experience working with senior adults dealing with short-term memory loss. Person needs to be self-starter, come highly recommended, conscientious, and respectful, and demonstrates honesty and integrity. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
