About who needs care: My wife, Anne, has limited mobility. She suffers from early dementia, but has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. We opted for Hospice, but symptoms of her passing still seem to be some months away. She weighs 195 and presents the problem of lifting should she slip or fall from her chair. We have a hospital bed with railings set up in the living room and a rollator to transport her to the bathroom. She sleeps half the time and is I her own world the rest. She would likely stay in the guard-rail bed and will need changing over time if preferred over trips to the bathroom. She needs to be fed in her electric lift chair. She is calm, non-aggressive, polite and pleasant. She was a 5th grade teacher before retiring in 2000. We have 2 sons who live and work in Raleigh. About the care needs: I need a person to keep her company and safe while I run a few routine errands per week, about 3 hours each. I have a funeral to attend in W-S on Friday, Feb 21. With travel time I will need someone from about 12 noon until 7 p.m. I would prefer to have someone who is familiar with Anne's needs and our setup. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
