About who needs care: Im looking for a caregiver to accommodate both of my parents. My father is 79 and my mother is 75. Mom has coordination and speech issues resulting from a stroke about 16 years ago, and is deaf in her left ear, and uses a hearing aid in her good ear. Dad is currently her caretaker, but getting older, his hearing is declining, and vision as well. Would ideally be looking for a candidate with experience with handicapped, willing to cook and perhaps clean (we have a cleaning lady whos close to the family and comes weekly, but in terms of smaller day-to-day tidying, and post-meal. Currently I dont believe they need assistance with bathing, as moms bathroom is handicap accommodating. Both my parents are just genuinely good people. Mom is a bit more extroverted, but both are kind people. However, as theyve never had a caretaker, this will doubtlessly be a big adjustment for them, and so patience and a kind, caring, and empathetic personality will be essential (though I wouldnt expect them to be disrespectful or intentionally rude to anyone.). About the care needs: Most of the required skills and services were listed already, so apologies if this is redundant. Mom loves listening to audiobooks, and knitting. She is also in a book club with her friends. Not necessary at all, but if you like to read or knit or anything like that, it could be cool. Dad likes to talk about current events, politics, or the stock market, but not really very extroverted. Not really a lot of recreational hobbies aside from those. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and mobility assistance.
