About who needs care: Underlying condition: Stroke paralyzed her dominated right side on 8/2024. Right arm is no longer in use (held mobile with an arm sling) There has been great progress with her moving her right leg - can walk with help short distance. Balance and strength is still an issue. Uses wheelchair and gate belt. Hobbies: sewing and quilting Daily morning: Gets up at 8:30, showers twice a week, change clothes and toiletries. Will eat breakfast and then either goes into office (computer/games) or will work on puzzles. If someone can help operate the sewing machine, she likes to work on her sewing projects. About the care needs: Mom likes to talk, she was very independent before the Stroke. Mom would prefer someone that interacts with her. She needs someone outgoing. Mom will need someone who can work a gate belt, to get her up and out of bed, as well as on the potty chair and in and out of the shower, (they must be willing to clean her in the shower). They must be willing to help with her stretching in the morning as well as making sure she does her daily exercising. The caregiver isn't required to know how to use a sewing machine, but hopefully will be willing to learn. Mom taught the last caregiver how to make a quilt. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
