About who needs care: My elderly friend Diana is bipolar, and she does not believe she is. She had a storied childhood at boarding schools, and she used to be an actor. She is from New York now living in Charlotte. She is very political, opinionated, and another sort of friend thinks she has the beginnings of dementia. Her only relatives are two nephews who live in England and are not really in touch at all. She has paranoia (also does not believe she does of course.) She's very demanding, but she has no one, hence why I've helped her with groceries, phone calls, bill paying, doctor appointments, errands, and listening to her. I cannot do it anymore emotionally or due to my new job, though. I am suggesting this to her, to begin on 10/1. You will be so appreciated! About the care needs: You will need to: Have a thick skin Be a good listener Be totally adept on a smart phone as she would not even have an email address if it were not for me (you will be doing her grocery ordering, paying bills, etc.) Be helpful with the laundry setup at her retirement building Be able to do some light cleaning/suggest she hire someone if need be Be very patient Have a good sense of humor Be forthright for when she gets angry and mean. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
