About who needs care: Recently diagnosed with dementia... memory issues. He is 89... frail and needs housekeeping, meal help, cleaning and laundry. He doesn't eat much and has a stair chair lift. He fell few months back and had therapy and a caregiver up until 2 days ago. She left the agency for personal reasons not associated with our dad. So we are looking for a replacement, me my brother and sister live out of the state. Dad listens to easy listening music, showers himself eats and sleeps. He has memory issues and cannot drive or do much. He has friends that on occasion pick him up to bring him for dinner. They also help transport him for medical appointments. He has a pacemaker and had a heart valve replacement few years ago. The dementia is newly diagnosed after the fall a few months ago. He wants to stay in his house so a caregiver allows this for him. My sister handles the finances and has groceries delivery. She asked me to help research caregivers because the other agency is not dependable. About the care needs: Someone who can deal with memory issues, he can be stubborn, set in his ways at 89. Basic housekeeping and meal prep... just nice and easy to talk to. Dad doesn't have hobbies he can do anymore. He was a hunter and fished but can no longer do those things.. his license revoked because of his dementia diagnosis. He is very low key... naps on and off all day. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
