Hands-on Care Needed For My Father In Missoula

About who needs care: Ron is 91 yo and living with Parkinson's. He uses a chair to transport himself and requires assistance with all transfers. He takes PD medication 4x/day. He lives with is 90 yo wife who is losing her sight and no longer driving. He was an engineer, worked for the Department of Defense. Was an AVID flyfisherman. He has a good sense of humor and is mentally sharp, though may need patience from the audience when he is trying to communicate. He wakes between 7-9am. Dresses with assistance. Transfers with assistance to a recumbent exercycle where he spends 15-30m spinning. He eats healthy breakfast and may nap in his chair after. He is still concerned about hygiene and health and often brushes his teeth after breakfast. Currently Ron has home health PT 2x/week and is working with an OT and speech therapist. He may listen to BBC radio or NPR during the day. He has a modest movement program prescribed by the PT throughout the day. He eats prepared lunch about 12:30-1pm. He may nap in his chair a bit in the afternoon. He may watch the news before supper. Clara prepares supper and they eat btw 6-7. Ron may start evening bedtime process from 7:45-8:30. (brushing teeth, toileting, selecting next day cloths, changing into nighttime 'Depends' and nightclothes) Target in bedtime is 9:30. The variety of other services include Home Health from Partners in Home Care, Palliative care from Big Sky Hospice/Palliative, he still goes to occasional outside medical appointments. They also have home care companions coming in on 4 days per week. We are looking to supplement their current availability. About the care needs: We are looking for a caregiver with experience in hands on assistance with all mobility, gait belt transfers, bathing, dressing, and toileting. Prefer someone experienced in helping elders with Parkinson's Disease who can be compassionate and patient. We are looking for someone who can use the time with the other agencies coming in to work together and learn how to best support Ron. There are chemical sensitivities in the home and Ron & Clara use all scent free and natural products, so heavy perfumes or personal care products are to be avoided. Ron relates well to outdoorsy, fisher-types, likes learning from young motivated people and has done well with students. He is interested in science. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
