I'm looking for hands-on care for my 87-year-old mother. She suffers from severe stenosis in her lower back and neck, causing bad chronic pain. Her ability to walk is very limited due to pain. We primarily move her with a transport chair, although she is learning to use a wheelchair. She wants to walk and uses a walker as much as she can tolerate. She does at home physical therapy; supporting her in doing PT is important. She has not been diagnosed with dementia, but does experience hallucinations and illusions, which come and go. She also has periodic bouts of incontinence and is prone to developing hemorrhoids, and is reluctant to take showers, so someone comfortable with assisting her in maintaining personal hygiene is a primary requirement. She has a very pleasant disposition; past caregivers have all been very fond of her.
