About who needs care: My husband has early onset Alzheimer's disease. He is 68 years old. He is mobile, cleans & feeds himself. I just someone that help him with all the time he has to spend alone because I work full time. He gets confused about where he is, forgets that he is at home. He hasn't tried to walk off yet, but I could see it happening. He doesn't do anything but sit in front of the tv because he's afraid of messing things up. He's recently broken several things in the house by misusing them. Right now he's going thru a bit of "extra" depression after our 17 year old chihuahua that he referred to as 'my little buddy' passed away. He has to be given medication, he can't do that on his own. Right now I just mostly need someone to spend time with him, assure him that he is at home. Maybe help him complete some cleaning task, that sort of thing. His hobby is music. Or used to be. He was once a drummer in a rock band. I've tried to help him find music on his phone, but he just can't do it. He gets frustrated with the fact that he can't do it, because he knows that he used to build computers & now he can't even send a text. An ideal day? Just one where he wasn't alone from the time I leave in the morning (9:30am) until the time I return at night (6:30pm). About the care needs: Someone that has the patience of Job. Maybe knows a little bit about old rock-n-roll music. A Christian. Someone that would enjoy reading/watching JRR Tolkien books or movies. He loves talking about things from the 70's when he was a teenager. He used to be a fairly good artist, but hasn't picked up a pencil for drawing in 40 yrs. He is a smoker. He loves his coca-cola & Frito's corn chips. He can make himself something to eat, but he often forgets to do so, and is better about eating when there is someone there to eat with him. He also has several guitars, but can't remember how to play them, so a person that could help him with that would be great. The room he has taken for his 'bedroom' in the house hasn't been cleaned in ages. He will not allow me to do so, and can't seem to get it done himself. I thought if someone would offer to help him do one or two small things, a little bit at a time, at least that could improve a bit. He can also shower and bathe himself, but has to be reminded to do so. He also has to be told to put on clean clothes as opposed to the ones he just took off. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
