About who needs care: My wife is 58. She is a type 1 diabetic since the age of 8. She was diagnosed in 2022 with early onset Alzheimer's disease. She is presently very healthy generally but she struggles with maintaining her diabetic devices (CGM and Insulin Pump) independently, some household things and she recently stopped driving. She bathes and dresses herself and continues to do some household chores such as laundry, dishes and light cleaning as she has always done. She can get herself pre made food but does not cook. She never cared much for that to begin with LOL. She struggles with aphasia and dyslexia which have effected her cognitive test scoring, As a result it has become necessary that she not be alone for an extended period. She presently is very happy and still laughs and jokes as always. She is still socially active with siblings and close friends multiple times a week, but does withdraw sometimes from conversations in large groups. I am researching home care with the knowledge that need for care will escalate, perhaps as much as to require over night care if I am away for any reason. The ask is more complex as I would like someone with some diabetes care experience and want to do on a somewhat limited basis for now so she can get acclimated to the person and enjoy being with them rather than a rotating cadre of helpers. I think that will be critical as she comes to understand the implications of her advancing condition. I also have long term care coverage and and need to begin the elimination period. About the care needs: I believe I gave a fulsome description in the prior explanation, but if more detail is necessary please let me know.
