About who needs care: My husband and I live in Virginia and we are looking for someone to care for my husband's mother a few days a week. (Just some things we can't do, living so far away.) It is getting more difficult for her to get around as she ages (she is turning 77 this summer) and we would like someone to help with light housekeeping and cooking. We are unsure how much longer she will be driving so someone who can take her to appointments or to the store would also be helpful. She enjoys working in her garden, swimming, and playing cards. It would be nice for someone to engage with her in these things as well. She does suffer from some memory loss, although she has not been diagnosed with any medical conditions as of now. About the care needs: Patience is a must. My mother-in-law can be strong-willed but she is very kind. Someone who is a good listener is also a good fit. She loves to be outside and does not like to sit still so being active is also a plus. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
