About who needs care: My Dad is 88 years old. He had a stroke, September 29th. He is currently in a Rehab facility in Willmar. Will be going home to Home Health Care on November 1st. We will get some services through the Rehab Facilities. We are looking for help to fill in times when someone is not there. My Dad is working hard to gain his mobility back. We are interested in finding someone that could help with showering possibly 3 days a week. Also helping to potentially sit with him or assist him with his required exercises, like walking. He uses a wheelchair, has a walker, but is unsteady yet. We also may want someone just to sit with him while his wife is out doing errands. We do not yet know what the schedule would be like. I am trying to be proactive on finding assistance. About the care needs: My Dad gets along well with people. He likes to get to know people. Will ask questions to try to get to know someone. His interest is agriculture, history, current events. He likes to read the paper. His main hobby would probably be reading. Not really a hobby person. His work was his hobby. He is currently working very hard on his rehab to regain mobility. My Dad has always been very active. He walked daily with his wife (1. 5 miles) per day up until the stroke happened. He also would do some arm exercises. As far as special skills, showering/dressing an individual with current mobility issues on his right side. Also, helping him walk with his walker by supervising and or if unsteady able to hold onto his safety belt. Able to supervise some of his exercises. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
