Hello! We are M and C and we are looking for a care companion with a sense of humor for M who recently had a stroke. We have two young children (ages 3 and 5) and a beautiful 80 lb. dog. M has a quick witted sarcastic sense of humor and enjoys watching sports and playing board games. M requires constant indirect supervision and needs help preparing meals, dressing, and toileting. We are looking for someone to help him with these tasks while C is at work. He will be participating in outpatient OT/PT and Speech therapies so we need someone who is comfortable taking him to those appointments - preferably in their own car. This would include transferring him from a wheelchair to a car and out again. M has limited mobility on his right side but is able to stand and walk short distances with a cane and assistance. He also has Aphasia - he can understand others but has difficulty producing words and expressing himself. However, his intellect and humorous personality are still in tact. Experience working with Aphasia is definitely a plus! While M's care is top priority, the ideal candidate is also willing to help with general household upkeep as well - including laundry, family meal planning/prep, light cleaning, and pet (dog) care.
