Hands-on Care Needed For My Mother In Red Wing

About who needs care: Mom will be 80 on 3/30. Permanently disabled after a stroke in 2018, mom needs help bathing and dressing (one arm paralyzed). Limited mobility, needs social interaction to encourage exercise and conversation/brain flexibility. primary caregiver (dad) will be 80 on 4/15, and and suffers from declining physical strength/chronic pain and declining mental acuity. Ideal caregiver will shower mom M and F, give sink bath/wash cloth Wednesday, prompt use of bidet every morning and after all bm. Require daily morning walk out to front porch or out onto back deck, or around main living area, fill bird feeders, sit outside for a while and chat or inside if bad weather. Serve breakfast (simple), prepare lunch (x2). Light housekeeping, laundry and cooking chores to reach 3+/-1 hours/day, 3 days a week. Depending on caregiver capabilities and interests, may have more hours/opportunities to assist. Household includes adult daughter and granddaughter, two cats (not allowed in grandparent bedroom suite). All main floor living except kitty litter, small freezer and household storage in basement. About the care needs: chatty is good, but remember that primary focus is mom, not dad or other family members. She is fully cognizant but sometimes loses words, so be patient and give her prompts to try and figure out what she wants to say/is asking for. Mom doesn't always want to be compliant with exercise, bathing, drinking adequate water, etc. so must push a little sometimes. gentle - she has ongoing nerve pain in paralyzed arm and same side leg. Christian (we are WELS Lutheran) and willing to offer a prayer when needed. Willing to learn/play certain card/board games that mom enjoys. like cats. tidy/enjoy cleaning (but not obsessive) -- caregiver should help with tidying up, not leave a trail. Mom can put dishes into and out of dishwasher, have her help with things she can do, both for purpose and for exercise. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
