About who needs care: Mostly immobile due to blindness (diabetic retinopathy from type 2 diabetes), as well as heart failure, liver failure, and kidney failure causing a significant amount of fluid buildup (edema) throughout her body. She goes to dialysis on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. She also should have paracentesis 2-3 times per month to relieve fluid buildup. However, she cannot get in/out of buildings by herself. Currently her family is supporting her but it is getting difficult with job responsibilities. She cannot easily go up steps so she lives on the ground floor of her house with her husband. She also lives with her son who is 17. Her meals are not as healthy we would like them to be, partially because she cannot cook for herself and no one in the house can cook for her either; it would be great if we could arrange a way to get meals to her that she would enjoy. She likes to listen to podcasts in her free time, and eat good food. About the care needs: We definitely need help with transportation to her appointments! Additionally, we need someone who is able to occasionally help her with hygiene tasks such as washing her hair, brushing her teeth and refreshing her commode. It would be nice if they are also open to occasionally cooking small meals, but this is not as necessary. She is a bit reserved and stubborn, so she will have some trouble warming up. We would like someone who is compassionate and patient. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, and light housekeeping.
