About who needs care: Paul has beginning stage Parkinson's and some congestive heart trouble. He is recuperating from a broken ankle. Paul had surgery on Sept. 5. He is at location and may come home on Nov. 6 or 7. I would need help starting around then. We already have an agency in place for PT and a nurse. I am having a carotid artery surgery on Oct. 29 and hope to be recovered by then, but not sure. We have a colonial home with bedrooms upstairs, so PT will be working with him on stair climbing again. I will possibly need a hospital bed downstairs in family room which is not a problem. About the care needs: Paul loves to watch Michigan football, European soccer and foreign affairs. He has a dry sense of humor and he is quite smart since he was a former dentist. Paul has short term memory problems but loves to talk about old memories from childhood and university. Balance issues can be a problem and some swallowing difficulty, but not serious. Services needed include: mobility assistance.
