About who needs care: My grandfather has dementia and is a fall risk. He needs 24 hour care. We can rearrange his home to keep him mostly on the first level, but he would need someone who can assist him using a chair lift to the second floor periodically for shower/bath. His dementia is advancing quickly so he really can't be alone at all anymore. He really just wants to sit in his recliner, read, eat meals at the kitchen table, and maybe have some light conversation. He receives meals on wheels, and family lives close by and can provide additional meals. Family handles all medical appointments. He is currently hospitalized due to issues with his walking and is still a fall risk, so he can't come home to a house alone. He really doesn't want to go into a facility as he doesn't understand where he is right now. We think that keeping him in a location that he remembers will be less overwhelming for him. About the care needs: Someone who is extremely patient and has experience with dementia patients. He needs frequent reminders. He loves to talk about the weather, and he used to be a pilot so he sometimes talks about that. He was reading quite a bit before going into the hospital, and he loves classical music. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
