About who needs care: My mom is suffering from a reoccurrence of cancer that has metastasized in a tumor near her back. It has broken vertebrae and causes a lot of pain. Since hospitalization, she has become very weak in her legs, to the point she cannot support herself, and has become mostly bedbound. My dad is available to care for her with food and medications, but is unable help move her or clean her properly. About the care needs: I would picture someone that has some solid caregiver experience, perhaps an LPN license or CNA, so that they are property skilled in bed baths, treating bed sores, changing diapers, and other home health aide. Also someone that has training and is comfortable with bed to chair to commode transfers, either with a transfer pad, or a gate belt. These are the main areas we need help with - cleaning and moving. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
