My mother has been diagnosed with early Alzheimer's and has cognitively declined fast in the last year. She lives with my father who is fully functioning and physically quite young and capable. They live in their home in Harbor Springs with space for a caregiver to take breaks, or live, in a separate private residence. My parents are hesitant to start receiving care as they are very private, humble individuals who have never had 'help' before in any capacity. The right person for this role will be someone who can first focus on building trust and a relationship and then move to hands on care. The initial phase of the work will include more housekeeping, companionship and getting my mother out of the house on car trips. The 'work' will increase as my parents become more open to assistance-- groceries, meal prep, bathing etc.
