My grandmother was given a diagnosis of cognitive decline a couple years ago, which could eventually become dementia, or maybe even is already. She is now unable to drive, and is having difficulties with doing her housework and remembering to do some important things like taking her medication and cleaning, plus I think she often gets lonely. The family does what we can to be there for her. She usually sees either me, or 1 of my aunts 3 or 4 days a week, but when we can't be there, we don't like her being alone so much, plus her small apartment tends to get messy very quickly. So we thought we'd check into hiring someone to come help her and keep her company a few days a week, maybe a few hours a day. It could vary.
