About who needs care: Poor eyesight and hearing. Uses a hearing aid. Non-ambulatory. Needs help standing to get to a wheelchair. Needs help getting on the toilet, taking down pants, and cleaning afterwards. May need help changing her diaper. Needs help getting food but can feed herself. She can mostly dress herself, just needs help standing to pull up pants which she may also need help with. Having trouble with her sight and hearing means she doesn't do the hobbies she used to enjoy. She watches television mostly, but enjoys talking and sometimes listening to music. She talks with the same 2 people on the phone almost everyday. A typical day: getting her up between 8:30 and 10. She sometimes likes to rest even if she's not asleep because sometimes she has trouble sleeping the night before. Then she uses the bathroom, gets cleaned up, and dressed if she wants to. Breakfast is usually cereal with milk, sometimes toast as well. She takes her medications after she eats. She more often than not will want to watch the View at 11 unless someone calls to chat. Prompting her to use the bathroom every 1 1/2 hours, 2 hours maximum, prevents most accidents and keeps her comfortable. My uncle gets home by 1:30, sometimes 12:45. About the care needs: Someone outgoing, patient, and with a sense of humor would be ideal. The ability to assist from sitting to a standing position at the walker, then down to a sitting position. I often grab the waist of her pants to given her a little boost. We have a gait belt as well. No specific hobbies or interests. She would be interested to hear and learn about lots of different things. Services needed include: companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
