Looking for help caring for my elderly dad in my home. Most of the time there will be another adult on site who may need to work from home, but who may also need to leave to run errands or attend appointments. Hours can vary as we anticipate needing more than one caregiver. As we hire, hours will become less flexible as some time slots will no longer be available. Shifts can be as short as 2-3 hours or longer. To some degree we can schedule our times out of the building around a caregiver's schedule. Dad will be in a hospital bed or wheelchair. We need help with personal care, bed-chair-toilet transfers, and feeding. Also reading to him, playing PT games, watching football, and just keeping an eye out. Morning: Help bathing and dressing, transfer to commode, transfer to wheelchair, feed breakfast. Midday: Feed lunch, play PT games, read, watch tv. Transfer to bed if nap is desired. Transfer to commode if needed. Evening: Feed dinner, change to pajamas, transfer to commode, sponge bath, transfer to bed. Ongoing: Dad is only occasionally verbal anymore. Mostly he sits and gazes out the window or pats the dog and just needs to be kept company. We are looking for someone kind with a caregiving spirit. We can train on anything else. The metro bus stops 0. 2 miles away, so public transportation is an option. There is off street parking. Our family includes a very meek medium sized (35 pound) short haired mixed breed dog and a bossy cat. Depending on the animal and the situation, we are not opposed to a caregiver bringing their pet to work with them.
