About the care needs: Someone who is firm/strong (yet personable) about cuing and stand-by for a previously "very" life-time active parent who does what they think they can still do. There are two parents at home (Mom is 91). Dad is 94 and fell (passed out twice from BP) and also has a balance issue - he is forgetful as well now and speaks or asks q's he asked beforehand. Mom is immobile almost and stays in her chair a lot, but she is incontinent. They eat fine (Mom's teeth are not good so soft foods mainly) and they need their meals cooked and dishes done, beds made, laundry and mobility assistance around the house. There is one lift only from the main/kitchen area to the bedroom level, so help down the other steps is needed or stand-by and some PT/OT as well for Dad as he gets stronger. They both "think" they can do things safely - but they cannot. Dad is using a walker (as is Mom) at the house, but they both require wheelchair rides/vans scheduled when leaving the house with the Caretaker. They are a private family (previously Military) so having someone at the house is always difficult although they have had help there. They need stand-by for showering and Mom requires or has someone doing the hand bathing and unable to step into the shower safely even with guidance. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
