About who needs care: Mobility, personal care, companionship, throughout day and overnight, both regular and intermittent. I am present full time and live with Mom, but I need self-care time, too, and have little support from our family. Mom is cognitively very bright and sharp. (While Mom is 89, her memory and cognitive evaluation revealed that her brain age is 43.) She can be a bit of a loner, but she also loves puzzles, word games, handicrafts, fine art, movies of various genres--especially adventure, science fiction, comedy, and drama. (She has a thing for Dwayne Johnson and Marvel.) She typically reads multiple books each week. Mom is recovering from a broken hip and several complications. About the care needs: Mom is a bright, creative, curious, and interesting woman, a retired teacher and fine seamstress who would be most comfortable with someone who is quick-witted and entertaining, energetic and flexible, and a good listener and storyteller. Someone who loves any or all of her interests would be a fantastic match: word games, trivia, puzzles, movies of many genres, and creating fine and decorative arts and needlework. She'd enjoy someone who wants to learn new skills that match her interests or who might want to teach her something new. Mom will do best with a caregiver who will be responsive to her needs but who doesn't hover. She loves to meet new people from nearby or from anywhere in the world. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
