About who needs care: Dad is 79 years old (almost 80 in April). He is currently under Hospice of Montgomery County care. He has Parkinsons and is mostly bed ridden. Needs help toileting (he is incontinent and uses bedside commode), needs help eating, and help sponge bathing. He spends most of his days in front of the TV listening, cannot see very well. He needs assistance going from his bed to the recliner. Has a wheelchair in the home to take him from his room to the living room or sometimes outside weather permitting. He is a fall risk because he forgets he can't walk and tries to stand. About the care needs: Would prefer a man. Even though he has dimentia (brought on by Parkinsons) he has moments of clarity and can carry a conversation. His speech is slurred because of Parkinsons and a stroke he had in the fall. My mother (his primary care giver) will be in the house at times as will my brother who works out of the home. Having someone help my mom with his care would free up my mom's day to get out the house and visit friends and family and get a break from care giving. Services needed include: feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
