About who needs care: UNDERLYING CONDITIONS: She suffers from dementia that manifests as short term memory loss. Her long term memory is pretty good. She has metistatic breast cancer that has spread to her skin. She has 3rd stage renal disease but no complications from that at this time. HOBBIES/INTERESTS: Theater and shopping IDEAL DAY: Currently she watches a lot of television and sits alone in her kitchen. I don't know what ideal looks like for her anymore as she has lost interest in many things. About the care needs: Patience. Tough but gentle. Genuine concern and kindness even when it is not received. Able to speak consistently loudly as my mother is also hard of hearing (forgot to mention that). Able to not take things too personally with a feisty old black lady whose mood swings from day to day with a tongue that can cut like a knife. They won't need any special skills or hobbies. Just a willingness to listen to a lot of stories on repeat. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
