About who needs care: Fred was diagnosed with ALS almost three years ago. He is still able to do some things with his upper body and still eats and talks just fine. He cannot walk and is in a wheelchair. He is starting to need help transferring to other chairs, getting dressed, and some other home tasks. As I work in the office and we have an 11 yo son, he also just needs company and some help getting to PT/OT appointments and out and about. Some very light housekeeping - not cleaning - is also needed. Fred is very into college sports and fun tv/movies. We also have a very sweet dog who is initial apprehensive to strangers but quickly loves everyone. About the care needs: Honestly, Fred's number one concern that has pushed this off is if the person is annoying. The right person will know when to be quiet and when to engage. Fred is very much a talker, but presently can quickly tire from talking too much and does not like to be talked at. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, bathing / dressing, and mobility assistance.
