About who needs care: Mom has cognitive decline, diabetes, GI issues, and has fallen several times in the past few months. Step Dad is overwhelmed trying to take care of Mom, himself, and all duties related to the house (cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery store, etc) so we'd love someone to provide companionship, help with meals, light housekeeping, and possibly hygiene stuff for Mom. This would allow step-dad the chance to get out of the house for himself, make grocery runs, etc. Thinking 2-4 days per week for possibly 4 hours at a time, but not sure about this yet as this is all new to us. Mom is fun, easy to talk to, and just requires someone to be there so she doesn't fall, make sure she's taking meds, and assist as needed with everyday life. About the care needs: Non-smoker (smoking is a deal breaker) who is light hearted and enjoys talking with people. Patient and compassionate to be a companion to Mom. Someone who will take the initiative to do light housekeeping, laundry, etc when the opportunity arises (when Mom is napping, for example) but otherwise just be a friend to Mom. Nursing skills is a bonus but companionship and compassion are the two biggest priorities. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
