About who needs care: Mom is recovering from hip surgery and will have in-home physical therapy, but it has not been arranged yet. She is often dehydrated and I believe her to be malnourished because she doesn't eat much and she doesn't hydrate enough. Before breaking her hip, she was able to ambulate enough to take care of herself and my father to the extent that she did. She doesn't cook hardly at all, and she really has no hobbies nor interests. Mom's typical day begins around 6:00 a.m. She takes care of feeding her dog and used to be the one to walk him first thing in the morning. That is obviously going to change due to her recovery from breaking her hip. She is to come home today. She basically lies on the couch all day long watching television. She only gets up to use the bathroom or get a drink or set meds out for my father. She typically goes to bed at 3:00 PM, but she watches television in bed for hours before falling asleep, and I am not sure when that usually happens. She doesn't require a lot, really, but we have to establish a routine revolving around home therapy and her recovery, so her needs may change a bit. About the care needs: Someone who is more of an introvert and doesn't interact much socially. Definitely someone kind and nurturing, and very patient. Hobbies and interests aren't really important. Special skills aren't necessarily required, other than basic common sense to take action if an emergency occurs, basic first aid knowledge, some cooking and cleaning. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
