About who needs care: They have had a stroke and have dementia but can walk with a walker and do most daily activities but needs company and help on the weekends. She likes the news and sports. I would like a care giver that engages with her on memory exercises/ puzzles or game. Encourage her to read the news paper and talk about things from the news. And then help with making breakfast/ lunch depending on the hours the care giver is there. One other thing is to help remind her to brush her teeth and to take her medicine, again depending on the time of day. It would be nice if they would go on walks with her. About the care needs: A good fit would be someone who can speak clearly as my mom can struggle to hear at times but also will need someone who speaks good English. No special skills per say but the willingness to just prepare meals. It would be good to have someone who likes to talk sports or recent events in the news. Services needed include: meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
