About who needs care: My dad has memory issues--dementia. Our main concern is having him take meals and medication. He is not eating unless someone is with him to help prepare, and follow through. He is also unable to care for his house, do dishes, laundry, tidying, cleaning etc. My dad loves to tell stories and seems to thrive with social interaction/ visitors. Family / friends do stop by but we are looking for more consistent care than we have capacity for. He can't drive, so grocery/ mail runs would also be very helpful. My dad likes to go for walks, or watch tv, but struggles with technology, often not able to figure out tv or phone charging--things like that. About the care needs: Someone who is patient and familiar with dementia--repetitive stories etc.,--willing to sit and chat I think is key... who can drive and is willing to take my dad on outings, and can prepare meals. My dad is recovering from a tick-borne infection so, while his mobility is typically great, we are not sure if he will need to do some PT etc. So possibly help moving about. Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, companionship, feeding, and bathing / dressing.
