I need a senior care provider with experience with Alzheimer's to provide 1-hour companionship visits 3-4 times per week for my mom, who is in a nursing home. Mom's disease is pretty well progressed, so it's really sitting with her and holding her hand, and chatting back and forth though she is beyond the point of coherence; putting on an easy listening cd and humming along with her; maybe she'd like to hear you read a book; wheel her to a common area and look out the window and point out the birds and flowers; or if she's grumpy, just watching a tv show with her. She loves a good hand hold, and that is a really important part of this job. It's also about noticing if anything seems odd with her and letting me know so I can look into it. No hands-on care is allowed in the nursing home.
